About "Portraits in Caregiving"

“Portraits in Caregiving” is a black-and-white film photo-documentary series depicting the varying emotions experienced by caregivers selflessly tending to their loved ones living with chronic and disabling conditions like Alzheimer’s Disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurocognitive disorders.

Presented through 20 framed photographs, the series aims to honor caregivers by capturing the essence of family and unconditional love through intimate and tender moments found in the everyday routine of caregiving.

Guests will be able to view photographs that capture family caregivers with their care receivers in tender moments that demonstrate the bond and care between them. A description accompanying each photograph will further expand upon those relationships.

The exhibit photographers will be present at the reception to discuss their inspiration, intention, and overall perspective on their artistic experience coordinating this project.

SCRC Client Testimonials

“It’s an honor to be a caregiver and you want to be the best. But you need guidance. The care receiver is on a journey and as the caregiver; you go on that journey with them. There’s no manual that can tell you step-by-step how to do things, especially when things are constantly changing. It’s wonderful to be able to partner with SCRC on this journey.”
